Officer's Message
April 2008

...from the President

Hello Members,

As our feature writer, John Hayes said in his article.  The Show Must Go On.  I have to agree.  The annual show is a large part of this organization.  It gives our members an opportunity showcase and promote the horses they breed.   It also gives interested individuals an opportunity to see what this family of horses has to offer.

The Shoemaker~Skipper W Bloodlines, Inc. would like to thank Tom Filbin for his many years of dedicated service to this organization.   He has traveled thousands of miles to support our shows, no matter the location.  Tom spearheaded the effort to try and get Skipper W into the AQHA Hall of Fame. He has also been instrumental in taking care of the advertisements in the Quarter Horse Journal.  Tom, we wish you the best of luck in his new endeavor.

THANK YOU TOM!!

Due to the resignation of Tom Filbin as Vice President, John Finarty has been appointed to fill the position until the end of September 2009.  Thank you, John for helping.

                                  Ken Durfee, President

...from the Vice President

As you may or may not know, last June (2007) after much persuasion, I was enticed to take on the management of a Nevada sheep ranch at Yerington, Nevada.  This operation is very intensive, producing America's highest selling wool and purebred Merino sheep for many years.

To make a long story brief, I regretfully will be resigning as V.P. of Shoemaker-Skipper W. Bloodlines, Inc.  Due to the time constraints required to fulfill my duties here at Rafter 7 Ranch I do not believe I can do justice to being V.P. etc.

We will continue raising "Skippers" but must curtail some activities in fairness to all involved.  A sincere THANKS to everyone that has assisted when called on.  And we will continue "helping" when possible.

Best Regards, Tom Filbin
