How
To Save Money for Counseling......my
story may be familiar to some
readers. I grew up with the school
of hard knocks. Yet I'm here like
many of you because I stuck it out.
But in 1989 my 27-year-old son,
after 3 years of suffering with
cancer, passed away. As many can
under-stand, I wound up in the
hospital. Stress related chest pains
... I think they thought I was going
to take some pill or something...
From there I wound up with a
Christian counselor, GREAT guy...
after some hours of talking -- and
the fact I that I accepted the Lord
in 1973 -- he was able to help me
open a new door in my life. He asked
what I would really like to do just
for me. In a heartbeat, I told him I
would like to ride a horse, but
thought I was far too old. I think
he said something like humbug, told
me to go take some lessons. I did,
then I leased a horse. Then a dear
friend of mine in the same barn said
Barbara, I saw just the horse for
you, she's 2 years old, a little
green broke, but has a fantastic
mind on her... What can I say, I
needed her more than she needed me,
and she has carried more than my
160lbs. In June 1995 I lost my
second adult child, my daughter had
a massive stroke and passed away 4
days later.
My
mare "Reba", has let me
cry, yell, and some time just
listens to me when I ride her. I've
said many a prayer just brushing
her. Next to God she is my best
friend... I would like to think a
mare such as she has saved me much
in counseling. There's more to my
story, but let's just say that I'm a
member who trusts and respects the
Shoemaker-Skipper W bloodlines. I
started late in life getting into
horses, but this only proves the
reliable horse I ride. 1200 lbs. of
love (she is Skipper W all 4
corners, and I'm 65, what a
team….).
I'm
always willing to learn, but she is
even more, what a magnificent mare she
is. Thanks for your time, as
ever....... Barbara Loux
