Earning
this award represents a very
personal victory for me. In the
last few years I have had to
undergo two serious surgeries, one
on six of the vertebrae in my neck
(to make room for a compressed
spinal cord), and one for a torn
rotator cuff (I am the proud
carrier of no less than four
titanium screws in my right
shoulder). A year ago, I could not
begin to even saddle my horse by
myself, much less pull myself up
into the saddle, or ride for any
length of time.
This
last spring I could begin riding
again at about the time school let
out for the summer, and due to the
help of a very supportive husband,
and the cooperation of my
wonderful gelding, I ventured out
into the show ring
again. I am so pleased
and proud of the result, and I am
deeply appreciative of the RMQHA
Outreach Program, which has
provided me with the opportunity
to be recognized for the
accomplishments of my remarkable
horse.
Skip
Array Missle represents the very
best Wiescamp breeding there is.
He is by Spanish Array, by Skips
Barber, and out of a mare by Skip
N Honor, by Skip N Go.
I saw Margaret Hammond show Skip N
Go (how long ago was that? J)
and Spanish Array at the Denver
Stock Show. Hank
Wiescamp himself showed me Skips
Barber and Skip N Honor at
Alamosa. I will never
forget it, and I see them all in
my gelding.
I
have always fit, shown, trained
and ridden this horse by myself. I
do everything with him, horse
shows, Versatility Ranch Horse and
recreational riding. He has won
high points and all-arounds in
local associations, last year he
was the Outreach Program Champion
In-Hand horse, and in the summer
of 2006 he reached the 1000 hour
level in the AQHA Horseback Riding
Program. |
