This year I only had 9 foals, and have 3 weaned in the barn, and in October, I'll bring in the rest and get them weaned.   I have leased some beautiful pasture with 4 dugouts on 80 acres this year.   The lady that owns the pasture, said they could stay on it until November, so that will help, as our hay prices are crazy this year.  We had such a cold, dry spring that the hay crops and pastures never came on until the second week in July.   Then we started to get some rain, and the second cuts are doing better.

I purchased a horse of another kind!   Since I have been depressed, (about the horse business), and I'm dealing with empty nest syndrome, I decided, instead of wearing purple and red hats, that I would buy myself a ford MUSTANG, and its a CONVERTIBLE!  yup.....I feel like , when I was a kid, galloping full tilt, no fear, with my long hair flying in the wind!   Now, when I have those old 70's tunes up high, the top down, and couldn't feel happier!  Everyone should indulge in their secret wishes!  I have had more fun this summer with my car, and so many "nice car" comments, that it sure makes a person feel good!  I always had a sport muscle car when I was a teenager (was a dodge Charger, then), so  I have done something fun for myself, instead of spending every available dollar on hay!   Take care, and experience reckless abandon, once in a while.....its hellishly good for your soul !

Hello from Utah,

Everything is going great here in Utah, as most of you know, we had a dispersal sale in 2002, sold sixty-five head, and kept one stallion, Skippoleon. In 2007 we went to the Skipper-W Show in Moab in our 5th wheel.  Susie Taylor and John Ogden donated a mare to the club to auction off, her name was Mexicali Chantilly. We bought $100 worth of tickets and won that mare.  We got Jerry and Theresa LeRoy to haul her to Ken and Connie Durfee's and we picked her up after we got back home.  In 2002 when we sold all our horses, I promised my wife that I wasn't going to breed any more mares, but you know how those Wiescamp horses have a reputation of jumping fences during the night, breeding a mare or two and jumping back over and all those babies wondering "whose my daddy" well we only had one mare and one stallion so we know who the daddy was, but, she is still wondering how he got over that 5ft fence!!!! I told her, the same way Hank's did.  We have had some pretty expensive mares over the years, but, I have to say that this filly is one of the very best fillies that I have ever raised and she is out of that $100 mare!!!  As Hank would say "that's the way it goes, you never know".  Hope everyone had a good foaling season and until next time.

Best Regards,
